My new birth certificate arrived today! That was completely unexpected—I assumed it would be weeks at least. But it's here. I am once more valid. Huzzay!
Fun fact: It was issued on my birthday (of this year). How very cosmic.
P.S. It lists my name as Jessica Holly Johnson Olsen. That's not a problem, right?
!
They gave you a Hispanic double surname! (Because who goes around with just one last name? That would be silly!)
Can I ask why you were born in Puerto Rico?
My dad was transferred there for work. Which has never made a great deal of sense to me, as he was in telecommunications sales and doesn't speak Spanish, but whatever. My parents lived there for two years before moving back to North Carolina.
The original birth certificate had my name broken down in fields: first name, middle name, last name, mother's maiden name, etc. So it never really looked like Olsen was part of my name. But on the new one, they just list (what they think is) my full name. Odd. I assume, however, that since I've already changed my name since then, it's irrelevant. Here's hoping that doesn't come back to bite me!
